About 5 o’clock this morning a small snow slide occurred on east side of Mt. Davidson back
of Savage and Hale & Norcross works-destroyed one small miners cabin and racked
several others badly-two miners were in cabin-slide carried it off foundation and down
against another cabin. One miner in bed, but escaped unhurt-other one named Jas Northey,
Cornishman, 28 yrs old was up, had got his breakfast and about to start for Yellow Jacket
mine where he worked-Complete smash-Was found at last, head down and heels up, smothered
to death by the snow and ruins upon him, took body to the undertakers
Virginia City, June 8, 1870 This evening I collected a bill of $8 from Mary Seymour
(colored) for Mrs. Morton for making a dress for her 5 or 6 months ago. She has always

presented it. Fairly bluffed her without any writ and she shelled out the $8. So much for
bluffing
