Oct 7, 1850 mentions seeing a Frank Holmes
On the Calaveras, Sunday Dec 12 1852 saw Henry Holmes, had not seen him since the spring
of 50. He was boarding there for a few days till he should find something better to do. He
looked the same as ever and has like myself kept clear of all the plymouth boys.
Fort John, October 11, 1853, saw Henry Holmes in town, looked the same as ever. Was
keeping a hardware store for L.G. Root, was very glad to see me, gave me three Old Colony
Memorials, He saw Winslow B. Barnes there bout two weeks ago.
Spanish Gulch & Fort Grizzly Sept 7, 1854 Doten takes a ‘footback pasear’ to Mokelumne
Hill, where he visits with Henry Holmes and Silas Churchill and finds the town strange,
since it has kept the county seat and is being rebuilt in brick and stone.
Virginia City March, 1865 I took supper and spent evening at Mount Vernon House with Mrs.
Miles, Mrs. Holmes, Brier, Ben Porter were all in the palor with me. Ben played guitar we
sang lots of songs, pleasant time

tying to make another big discovery near Carson.
