Are you sure Oneida was in California or Nevada? Were those ancestors born
in California or Nevada? There are lots of Oneidas in the US, but not in
those 2 states that I can find. Check out <
www.topozone.com>, put in the
name Oneida, and you'll see what I mean. My guess is they were married
before they headed west, or they went home to get married and then came
back. Taking the train wasn't all that difficult in the later 1800's.

My ancestors--Gerrans and Warren -- were married in Oneida and we have not
been able to locate that town, but know that they later lived in the Amador
and Calaveras areas in California--but worke din Storey county. Does anyone
recognize this community in CA or NV? Or could it have been the name of a
small mining settlement?
