Subject: [NVSTOREY] Lyon County, Nevada picture additions
Dr. Linda Clements donated her pictures of the historic Dayton (Lyon
County) Cemetery. Included in this historic cemetery is the final resting
place of James Finney, known as "Old Virginny". He was so revered that
the Comstock miners named Virginia City after him. Linda's pictures
convey the early history of this mining community which produced much of
the nation's valuable minerals such as gold and silver. Dayton is one of
the first communities in Nevada, having been settled in 1851. Many thanks
to Linda for helping to preserve the tombstones and the history they
convey for all time.
I was passing through Fernley (Lyon County) and decided to capture some
scenic shots of the Vets Cemetery in that community.
You can see these cemeteries and others by going to

select Lyon County and select the cemeteries.
