Surname: DAWSON, DURGAN
-------------------------
Hi! I hope you don't mind me responding to your message. My great-great-grandmother
had a younger sister named Ruth Amanda DAWSON. She was born about 1871
in Jones County, Iowa and died after Jun 1928. She first married Eugene
W. Richardson in Jun 1890 in Bellingham, Washington. They had one or two
children, and at least one of them was stillborn. Sometime afterwards they
divorced or split and the next reference I have of her is a business card
with her photo and name, stating that she was running for Nevada State
Representative (probably of the State Congress, not the Federal Congress),
it is believed she ran in or around 1917. The last reference I have of
her was on the the death certificate of her oldest brother (dated 28 Jun
1928). Her residence is stated as Tonopah, Nevada. The informant for the
death certificate was pretty realiable. Ruth (as a child she was called
by Amanda) is not mentioned as a survivor to her sisters, but I don't know
if that is because her sisters were the reliable informants and so the
informants for the sisters' death certificates didn't know Ruth, or if
she passed away before they did. They died in 1938 and 1944. It is believed
Ruth's second husband was George DURGAN. They MAY have (don't know for
sure) owned a gold mine in or around Tonopah. I don't know if Ruth and
George had any children or not.
I called the Tonopah Museum almost a year ago and gave them all this information,
but I haven't heard from them.
Any help would be appreciated!
