Louis Dwight Hooper, 55 years old, was injured and lost his life in a work related
accident. He was born August 4, 1949 in Schurz, Nevada and died October 19, 2004. His
father, Levi, preceded Louie in death in 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Linda George Hooper and children, Tonette Hooper of Gallup,
NM, Rhett Hooper of Gallup NM, Felicia Hooper of Gallup, NM, ReAnn Hooper of Duckwater,
NV, and Louis Sean Hooper of Reno; mother Pauline Hooper; brother Glen Hooper; sisters
Jeanette Losh, Priscilla Lynch, Brenda Hooper, and Melinda Jackson.
Louie attended early elementary school during his youth in Fallon, then later at Yomba
Elementary School to return to Fallon for Junior High and some high school, finishing at
Austin High School. He then spent two years in Chicago, IL at Greer Technical School,
earning a welding and mechanical certificate.
Louie spent most of his life working as a welder and maintenance personnel. His first love
was being a cowboy where he became knowledgeable in ranching livestock. He spent his late
years in Duckwater, NV where, with his wife, worked their ranch while employed with the
Duckwater Tribe in a multi-task job.
Funeral services will be held in several locations, including Duckwater Shoshone
Reservation in Duckwater, NV, Friday, October 22, 2004 at 10 am, followed by visitation in
Fallon, NV on Friday, 6 pm at the Pentecostal Church on the Fallon Colony, with Funeral
Services on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at the LDS Church, 750 W. Richards at 9 am,
finalizing the burial at Yomba Cemetery on Yomba Shoshone Reservation, Upper Reese River
Valley at 1 pm. Officiating Pastor Rev. Marty Bariees of Pyramid Lake Full Gospel
