Gerald Lewis Parsons
Hawthorne resident Gerald Lewis Parsons age 62, passed away July 26, 2003, near Green
River, Utah from the results of a motorcycle accident. He was born in Perry ville,
Missouri, on October 31, 1940 to Gilbert Smith Parsons and Harriot Peden.
Jerry graduated from high school in 1958. He served in the United States Air Force from
1962 through 1966 and was a Bomark Missile Mechanic. He moved to Hawthorne in 1986. He
worked for many years at Hawthorne Utilities from which he retired. Later he went to work
at DZHC Security, at which he was employed at the time of his death.
Jerry was a member of the American Legion and an Honorary Lion at the Beatty Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1974 and his father in June of 1982. Survivors
are his wife, Judy K. Parsons of Hawthorne; son Lee J. Parsons and daughter-n-law Kelly,
of Warner Robins, Georgia and their three sons; daughter Melinie Skaggs of Mansfield, TX,
and her two daughters; four step-grandchildren; two stepsons, Joe Neff and Belton Neff;
three brothers, Leslie Parsons of Beatty, NV, Terry Parsons of Moberly, MO, and Patrick
Salyman of Corpus Christi, TX; and two sisters; Susan Hatfield of ElPaso, TX and Brenda
Lucus of St. Louis, MO.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 9, at the VFW Hall in Hawthorne.
