Hello Linda,
This isn't about the Loftus Family, but I think you might be able to help me with a
Jaqua family of Dayton. I thought I might try posting this here instead of writing
through your web site.
James H Jaqua appears to have been a minor political man (I believe he was public
administrator at one time in the 1860s) and owned the Golden Eagle Hotel - called the
Nevada Hotel as of 1922 - and a member of one or more fraternal societis. His second wife
ran the hotel after his death in 1878. I know that he is buried in the Dayton Cemetery.
I've a few bits of information about Jaqua, but would like to find more about him and
his first wife Matilda, as I believe she is a member of an extremely hard to track family.
Mrs. Matilda Jaqua died sometime between 1862 and 1864, as J.H. Remarries, but I can find
no reference to her or her maiden name (which would be IMMENSELY HELPFUL). They had one
daughter together, named Sarah A Jaqua, who is last seen in 1862 in Dayton.
I'll keep this brief, but if you might be able to help me or if there's anything
I could do, please feel free to contact me at JDJames89(a)aol.com. I don't have a
terribly large amount of information, but I do have more about his second wife and the
children hey had together.
Thank you for your time.
