Message Board Post:
I'm looking for information on James H Jaqua, particularly his first wife and daughter
Matilda and Sara A Jaqua.
James H and Matilda appear to be married by their daughter's birth in 1852, somewhere
in Illinois.
James H and his family are seen living for a very brief time in Sacramento, California in
1860, but are iving in Dayton as of 1862, according to an 1862 census record. In Dayton,
James ran the Golden Eagle Hotel (later called the Nevada Hotel) and seemed to be active
in local public administartion.
Sometime between 1862 and December 1864, Matilda appears to die as James remarries to a
woman named Mary Louise Peck. I would really like to know when Matilda died, and if there
is anything else I can learn about her as I believe she is part of a very hard to research
family of mine. Info from a death certificate, or preferably, an obituary would be great.
In short, if anyone can help me prove her maiden name was Lindsey or Lindsay, I would be
EXTREMELY grateful.
Of course, I would absolutely love to hear about anything else that anyone might know
about any of these people, but mariage and death information/records would be the most
helpul right now.
Other information and individuals I'm interested in include:
