I am looking for any descendents and/or information on the owners of the station. The
station was originally built in 1865 near what is now Silver Springs. It closed sometime
around 1869. It was one of the largest way station as five trails converged there. The
owners were J. N. North & W. Nichols or Nicholas.
The organization I belong to now owns the property and plan to keep it for future
generations. The group has researched the history of the property and published an
article of the history. We would now like to find more information on these two men.
Supposedly, they were from Stockton, CA therefore the name of the station. The first
names of these men is unknown. I did find a William Nichols in the 1870 census in Lyon
County. He was a stock raiser. Nothing on North - hard without knowing his first name.
TIA
Pat
