Jeanette Lavender Crites (1st of 2 obits.)
Jeanette Lavender Crites was born Sept. 30, 1934 in French Camp. The family moved to
Woodland in the early '40s.
She married Lee Crites and they were happily married for 53 1/2 years. They moved to
Carmichael and upon their retirement from the State of California, where she worked as a
supervisor for 20 years, they moved to their property in Silver Springs, Nev.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mabel and Leo Lavender. Her parents
owned and operated Lavender's Market, located where Cracchiolo's Market is now
located.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, their three sons, Jerry, Michael and
Patrick; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Aaron, Brett, Taylor, Weston, Kelly, Kevin and two
great-grandchildren.
She was active in their Silver Springs church, rock hound groups and volunteered at the
Senior Citizen Center. She loved her friends. If you ever met her, you would say she was
vivacious! She did lovely crafts and oil paintings.
She and Lee loved to migrate to Quartzsite, Ariz. every winter. They were preparing to
leave for Arizona the morning that her life was cut short with an unexpected heart
attack.
She was happy and content. We will love and remember her exactly that way! Jeanette's
life will be celebrated at a memorial service to be held at the Woodland Christian Center,
441 California St., 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7.
