Juanita Pearl “Frosty” Frost
former resident of Hawthorne, and described by her family as Best Mom, Gram and friend,
passed away with courage and strength at her home surrounded by her family and friends on
the evening of August 14, 1999.
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and of Cherokee heritage, she was born on 4 Mar 1914 to
Minnie Gilliam and Charlie Philips.
She was married to Frank Frost, Ret. USMC, and for the past 33 years, called Fernley,
Nevada her home.
Juanita was the “Hostess with the Mostest” and always had her door as well as her heart
open - not just for her famiy and friends - but to everyone. She was never without a hug
and a kiss, a smile, or a joke and a laugh. She loved life and life loved her.
Juanita also loved to can - especially her pickles -work in her yard and garden, have
coffee and eat oatmeal in the morin’ and have a margarita at the Wigwam with her pals.
Juanita was surely loved and will be deeply missed, but she will live in the hearts and
memories of her children, Jack A. Frost of Reno, Stephen Frost of Helena, Montana;
grandchildren Jim Szymanski of San Francisco, CA, Kelly Frost-Peterson of Kaysville, Utah,
Michael Frost of Layton, Utah, Robert and Anthony Frost of Helena, Montana; four
great-grandchildren and countless friends.
A Catholic funeral mass was held at St. Roberts in Fernley, under the direction of Father
Tony Vercelleni. A reception was held immediately following, to celebrate Juanita’s life
and love at Mary and Moe’s Wigwam, also in Fernley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made in Juanita’s name to Catholic Relief Services or Hospice. nd 1 Sep 1999
