Pat Holland shows up on 1870 Census with wife Margaret, age 32 and Emily C 15 and Eliza M
age 10. This census was taken on 23rd of June in the City of Hamilton, White Pine,
Nevada.
On another census for 1870 for Lincoln, Pioche, Nevada census taken on 9th of August a Pat
Holland, 43 printer shows up. All household people were listed as coming from
"Ireland" This is probably wrong.

It looks like Pat traveled in the weeks since the first census was taken.
Did not find him yet on the 1880 census.

Alf Doten journals. (He was a newspaper man) pages 877 and 878 ( they went drinking)and
pages 2247 telling of start up of Pioche "Record" newspaper
Sam Davis History of Nevada
481 mention of him in journalist section
History of Nevada 1881 Thompson and West
pages 307 and 331. Starting newspaper in Pioche
Utah History to Go-Firearms in the West. Tells in 1877 a shooting between Pat and
Holland.
Mark Twain: A Biography, by Albert Bigelow Paine Chapeter 55. mentions Pat Holland and
friends.

An Editor On The Comstock Lode by Wells Drury. pages 47-53

An Old Timer Dead
Word reached Bodie Tuesday that Pat Holland, one of the best known men on the coast had
been killed near Tombstone by being thrown from a buggy. The Free Press says the accident
occured on the 8th of June. Etc
Says he owned the first newspaper in Pioche and also ran a paper in Virginia City.
This is what I have on Pat Holland so far.
