MARRIED -- at St. John's (Episcopal) Church, Monday evening, Feb. 20, 1871, by Rev.
Elias BIRDSALL; Louis HEWLETT, of Stockton, and Miss Jennie V. BILLS, of Chicago. [The
health of the worthy young couple was drunk by the attaches of the 'Independent'
in flowing bumpers of sparkling wine, and all united cordially in wishing them prosperity
and lasting joy.]
WEDDING -- Last evening, our young friend Louis HEWLETT led a beautiful young lady, well
known in fashionable circles, to the hymenial altar. The nuptial ceremony was performed in
St. John's (Episcopal) Church, in the presence of a very large audience. In fact, the
church was densely crowded with the acquaintances and friends of the bride and bridegroom.
The worthy young bride formerly resided in this city, but more recently in Chicago, whence
she arrived a day or 2 ago. We join their many friends in the wish
that the felicity with which they commence their united career may continue unmarred by a
single adversity to the end of their days, and may their years be many.
THE FOLSOM 'TELEGRAPH' says, on the 13th instant, a child about 2 years and a half
old, a son of David LARRISON, of Big Canyon, near Latrobe, swallowed a large Chile bean,
which lodged in the bottom of the windpipe. On Thursday evening Dr. McGUIRE was called,
who found the child very low; an incision was made by him in the windpipe and the bean
extracted, but the child immediately expired -- the continued choking for 4 days having
exhausted the child.
DISPATCHES --
From Sacramento, Feb. 20 -- Last Saturday, Lucinda POTTER obtained a decree in the

Government pilot, who died suddenly yesterday, rendered a verdict that the deceased came
to his death by a rupture of a blood vessel. Deceased was 45 years of age and a native of
