Am not related but may be of interest if your Mary NORWOOD was Mary COLLINS before she was
Mary CONDON. I have no further info but additional newspaper extracts may be found at

BTW: My great aunt was Julia BROUGHER, wife of Wils. Still haven't figured out how
they met. Maybe Wils was as "silver-tongued" as Henry CONDON. Got to get out
to Belmont and Tonapah some day. :>)

Romantic Termination of a Breach of Promise Suit.
The Nevada "Transcript' of March 24th chronicles the following: Our readers will
no doubt remember the suit of Mary J. COLLINS against Henry M. CONDON for breach of
promise, which was tried in the District Court before Judge McFARLAND some time in
January, in which plaintiff recovered a verdict of $2,000. The parties were married at the
Union Hotel on Saturday evening, by the Judge. Thus the same Judge ordered judgment
entered in the case and united the pair for life. The parties had not been keeping company
since the suit.
Last week Miss COLLINS had been spending the a few days in this city, and started home on
the two o'clock stage. CONDON started in a buggy from Grass Valley for Nevada, to get
a surveyor to go down and survey his ranch. He met the stage at the race track, and BROWN,
the driver, said to Miss COLLINS, "It's crowded in there, you had better get into
this buggy." "Yes", said CONDON, "come, I'll take you to Nevada
and bring you home." She agreed, provided he would let her drive. The bargain was
made and the parties started off together.
They came to an understanding during the ride, and were married as above stated. The
parties are both young, and after their unpleasant experience there is no reason why they
should not profit by the past by making each other happy for the future. We know not
whether CONDON secured that surveyor he was after, but there is one thing certain,
he's got a wife well qualified to take care of his ranch.
