Thank you so much for looking up that information. We are now trying to find out what
Alexander H. Wilson did in Austin or at his ranch called Blue Springs Ranch in Smokey
Valley. We know that he was a Lander County Commissioner and that Tallmadge ws elected
Superintendent of the County schools and resigned after a year. We don't know what
Alexander did to make his fortune but he was supposed to be a founder of Austin's most
important industry (could that have been silver mining?) He was a Free Mason in Austin.
His widow later owned much of Burbank California. We have no idea where he came from or if
he had children from a previous marriage. Elizabeth was our great-great grandmother from
Rochester Wisconsin and Emma was her daughter. We are trying to find our why they moved
to Nevada and came to Austin after the death of Elizabeth's husband Peter Campbell and
later the death of her son William in the Civil war. Tallmadge Norwood came from a family
that disowned him af!
ter he married. We have a long and detailed geneology of his side of the family because of
a few patriotic figures that are well known. We do not know if the marriage that his
family disapproved of was to Emma or to Agnes Fullard whom he married after Emma's
death.
What we are really trying to find out what transpired in Austin and if grandmothr Emma
really was the maid that married the wealthy young man from the east and put him in
disfavor with his family. Family history has always said he was a gambler so we were
surprised to find he was also superintent of schools. Thank you so much for your help.
