I've posted approximately 400 photos taken during my 2007 trip to Northern Nevada of
this historic cemetery. Genoa is one of the oldest communities in Nevada, along with
Dayton in Lyon County. Genoa was originally the Mormon Station and Snowshoe Thompson, who
carried the mail over the Sierra Mountains for over 20 years is one of the earlier burials
in this historic cemetery. Another tombstone advertises the fact that he was the first to
be buried in the cemetery, in 1866. The photos represent only about half of the cemetery,
which is very well kept by the community members. If anyone wishes to contribute more
pictures to the cemetery, I'd love to add them to this page. To see the cemetery, go
