Interested in information on two HOSKINS brothers who came to NV from Texas, beginning pre
1900. Marshall Hoskins was in Humboldt Co. 1900, joined by his brother Charles P. Hoskins
in 1910. Charles is found on census records for 1910, 1920, and 1930 in the county, but
Marshall is found in Washoe Co. by 1910.
Charles' wife was Sicily with children: Alma m. Smith; Frances (Frankie) m. Hawkins;
Erma m. Sullivan; and George S. m. Mabel ?. George & Mabel's son, Ted, m. Betty
Hopkins in the area as well.
Marshall's wife was Frankie READ, and their children who survived were Nora m. Cox,
May m. Livingstone, and a son also named Charles. Marshall & Frankie divorced in the
area in 1919, but Frankie continued to live in Reno until her death in 1945. Marshall
Hoskins m. Minnie Bradshaw in this area in 1925 in Modesto, CA, although it appears Minnie
was from the Reno area.
Most of this information comes from Census records and newspapers in Reno. I CAN PROVIDE
INFORMATION on the parentage of Charles P. and Marshall Hoskins, with information I doubt
they know about the brother's father and mother. Although I haven't been able to
find out much on the Hoskins family prior to the father of Charles & Marshall, their
mother's family is much more defined.
The boys were living with their father, William P. HOSKINS in Llano Co. Texas in 1880.
However, their father had consumption and died not long afterwards, being buried alongside
their mother, Harriet WOLFE, who had already died. Both are buried in the Board Branch
Cem., Lone Grove, Llano Co. TX
LOOKING FOR DESCENDANTS as their father's story is a major part of a famous RANGE WAR
in Central Texas in the 1870's, and William P. served as Llano Co. sheriff during PART
of thie years of this war!!!!!
I am not a descendant, just a researcher of Llano Co., although I am indirectly related to
the family through a connection to Harriet Wolfe's half brother who married a sister
of my gggrandmother. William P. Hoskins and his two sons were living with this couple in
1880.
