MINNIE E.2 HUGHES was born February 28, 1869 in Nevada, and died October 28, 1912 in
Nampa,Canyon,Idaho. She married OWEN C. LOVEJOY October 15, 1883 in Paradise
Valley,Humbolt Co, Nevada1, son of UNKNOWN LOVEJOY and UNKNOWN. He was born December 17,
1867 in Illinois, and died December 21, 1942 in Nampa,Canyon,Idaho.

Notes for OWEN C. LOVEJOY:
Owen and Clarissa were adopted by an unknown family and brought out west. I suspect that
the family was the Babers and that Clarissa later married their son William. Owen was my
grandfather and I have the information on him after his marriage to Minnie Hughes. The
information I need is prior to their marriage and als information on the Hughes side in
the area if anyone has it.

Notes for CLARRISSA LOVEJOY:
BIOGRAPHY: Clara Lovejoy Baber owned and operated the White Horse Inn located in
McDermitt, Nevada in the early 1900's. Family folklore states that this establishment
was both a saloon and brothel. We have visited it several times and there are rooms on the
top floor complete with sinks and toilet facilities. At one time there was a huge portrait
of Clara hanging over the bar.
The Whitehorse Inn is next door to the town jail which was an stone structure, both the
Inn and the jail were within 100ft of the Oregon border so it is said that whoever was
about to be arrested from a night of wild drinking at the Whitehorse would take off
running across the border in an attempt to get away.
