Jeff and All:
All SCs (with the exception of one state) are leaders for life, even the
ones who were elected. There is nothing in the By-Laws stating term of
office.
If an SC is doing a good job, he/she will probably be re-elected.
If an SC is not doing a good job, an upcoming election might serve to be
motivation to improve his/her job performance, or be replaced.
We are in a unique situation, we do not see or know each other except
through e-mail. We do not know whether any person can be a good leader
until they end up in that position. In USGenWeb, it is too late then, since
there is no way to get out from under a bad situation.

Let me encourage all of our USGenWeb County coordinators to support
the proposed amendment.
There currently are several state organizations permanently locked
under the control of one individual. As the ylaws were originally
set up, if an appointed (original) State Coordinator wanted to make it
a life long position, the people of that state were and in some
cases ARE stuck with it with no hopes of getting representative
leadership.
I am not saying ALL of these entrenched State coords are bad, in
fact most are really superior performers, but there are a few who
who rule with an iron thumb firmly pushing down on the CCs.(Even to
the point of who can or can't help the CCs add html and data.)
Passing this amendment will assure that the CCs in each state have a
democratic rocess for choosing who leads them. The Good State
coordinators will usually get re-elected, and the tyrants will
likely be replaced.
It is a very GOOD thing.
