Unfortunately, memories, especially at Rootsweb or this a French owned
company as well, have become faint in regards to American's dying for
freedoms and rights that we take for granted everyday. On the Nevada State
Site you will see the 9-11 reminder and the words "In God We Trust".
I will be adding a flag and the statement to support our troops. My son is
one of the Marines, older son served in Navy, husband retired Navy and
Vietnam vet, father life Air Force WWII and Korea, son-in-law USAF Vietnam.
I challenge anyone to tell me not to place it there including Rootsweb!

Subject: [TOMBROJ] Clarification
Hi All,
I have received several inquires from this list for e-mail addy's and so
forth. What has happened is as follows. I am personally aware of three
instances of rootsweb reprimanding list owners for allowing patriotic
content on their lists and I my self was told that my signature tag must
be
removed or I would be removed from a particular list. Margy Miles
who was
the list mom for CRR and also the CC for McCreary Co. Ky. was one of those
people. The list is now gone and she no longer is the CC for McCreary Co.
Ky. Sherry Frazier who is the list owner of Owsley Co. Ky. History
Society
list was told by RR that any mention of the "Flag, War, Our
Troops, or
political statements would not be permitted on the list. After hearing
what
was told to me, she removed her list from RR and it is now on Yahoo.
I
have not asked anyone to do what I decided to do. I am doing this for my
own conscience. I just don't want to be associated with an organization
that is ashamed to mention our troops. These are brave young men who need
our support no matter what you think of the war. Rootsweb position on
this
matter in MY view is unconscionable. While I understand part of
rootswebs
concern, To mention Our troops or our flag in my view are not
political.
This is our countries symbol and our young countrymen.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and
degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing
is
worth war, is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is
willing
to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal
safety, is
a
miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and
kept so
by the exertions of better men than himself. - John Stuart Mill ~ (1868)
