Doreen and all,
Now that I have a last name and two possible death dates
Hattie (HARDING) TAMAGNI
born June 27, 1888
died August 28, 1903 or August 6, 1937
I can start to search for a death cert.
Is there a Nevada death index?
Carolyn

Subject: Hattie
Maureen,
This is really weird stuff. I found Hattie and Jens' marriage certificate
(got a copy for you) in the Douglas County records. I found an
announcement
of a young woman who drowned in a well - right time frame - in
Yerrington,
Lyon County. Here's what it said:
Drowned (Gardnerville Courier - September 4, 1903)
"Friday evening a young married woman fell in a well near Yerrington and
was
drowned.
The husband came home at supper time ad found that preparatios had been
made
for the evening meal. Not seeing his wife around he started to search
for
her and noticed a piece of her dress hanging on the side of the well. Her
body was floating in the well. The unfortunate woman was about seventeen
years of age and was married about two months ago, her maiden name being
Miss
M. Diggerson."
The Diggerson could have possibly been Dickerson like her mother's last
name.
They may have eloped because Genoa is about 40 or 50 miles from
Yerrington
and there was no marriage announcement in the local paper (plus they were
married by a JP). The "M" could have stood for Matilda, Hattie is
sometimes
used as a nickname for Matilda. Okay, here's where it gets really
weird...
I
checked the Yerrington Cemetery and found the following:
Tamagni Antone 1872 - 1932 Switzerland
Tamagni Gloria L. 1932 - 1935
Tamagni Hattie 27 Jun 1888 - 6 Aug 1937 b.
California
Tamagni Jans 1875 - 1918 b. Switzerland; Erected
by his wife
It may be a typo in the list that I was looking at - but it definitely says
1937! and you will note, I was right. It was Tamagni and he was Swiss!
Next time I'm at the State Library I'll check and see if I can find their
local paper for that time and see if it's any clearer on identification. I
copied both the marriage certificate and the newspaper article if you would
like to have them. All I need is your address.
