Subject: [NVGEN] New Subscriber Requesting Help
Hello everyone. Nice to meet you.
I have recently requested and received the naturalization documentation
for David Benjamin STILLSON, who emigrated to Canada and was granted
citizenship in 1882. What I received was only a photocopy of an index
card, with very little information on it. However it does state his
former residence was Carson, Nevada. I know he was born in Michigan.
Here is the exact transcript:
Name: Stillson, David Benjamin
Residence: Williamsburg Twp., Ont.
Occupation: Yeoman
Former Res: Carson, Nevada
Nationality: American
Date Granted: Dec. 14, 1882 No. of Return: 28
Where Granted: Cornwall, Ont. Name of Court: Gen. Sess.
Up until now I had no idea he had any connection with Nevada. My question
is, what can I learn further from this scant information. According to
the 1901 census he came to Canada in 1870.
Are there any records just prior to 1870 which might place him in Carson?
I appreciate any help or advice given. Thank you.
