Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Inez GIBSON WAYMIRE, age 97, died
peacefully Friday, December 8, 2006 at her daughter's home in Bunkerville, Nevada. A
true native daughter of Nevada, she was born Dec 29, 1908 in St. Thomas, Nevada to Robert
O. and Edith HINTON GIBSON.
Inez attended school in St. Thomas and Overton, graduating from MVHS in 1925. She attended
Brigham Young University for two years, earning a "Normal" teaching certificate.
She taught in the St. Thomas school until it was closed due to the construction of Hoover
Dam.
Inez served an LDS Mission in the Northern States Mission in the early 1930's in the
Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio area. In 1935 she married Robert A. WAYMIRE in Las Vegas,
Nevada. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and in 1975 they served a mission
together in the Columbus, Ohio Mission. They also served several years as St. George
Temple workers and in the genealogical extraction program.
Inez was a seminary and gospel doctrine teacher, served in the Mutual Improvement
Association, both on the ward and stake level and served as a stake missionary. She
enjoyed painting, music, reading, gardening, ceramics and crocheting.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, her parents, four brothers and one
sister, a son-in-law, a granddaughter, and a great grandson. Survivors include four
daughters and two sons: Jean WHIPPLE of Bunkerville, NV; David (Kathy) WAYMIRE of
Albuquerque, NM; Frances (Rich) EVANS of Clearfield, UT; Kay HILLS of Overton, NV; Robert
H. (Judi) WAYMIRE of Etna, CA and Connie (Don) WHITNEY of Logandale, NV; 29 grandchildren
and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Overton LDS 3rd
Ward Chapel. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.
Interment will be in the Pioneer Hill Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Moapa
Valley Mortuary.
