Hello all,
This is a long shot on a pretty common name with few details but here
goes:
William Gallagher (might be William D. Gallagher) was born circa 1866 in
Glandorf, Putnam County, OH. He moved with his parents and siblings to
Clay County, IA circa 1881.
A 1982 letter written by his now deceased nephew says "William had gold
and silver mines in Nevada as well as a half interest in the Soo City
short line rail road."
His parents were Gibson G. and Mary (LEONARD) GALLAGHER. His siblings
were Frank, George, Charles, Henry, John, Lewis, Walter, Mary/Mamie and
Annetta Miriam/Nettie.
A couple of questions:
1. Does anyone recognize this William Gallagher of Nevada?
2. Do you have any Nevada resources that might help me find him?
I haven't any idea which county to begin looking for him...
3. What is a "half interest" mentioned above relating to the Soo City
short line rail road. I imagine it's a financial investment but
would it have been very substantial?
Best wishes,
Bonnie
