My great-grandfather Dennis Twomey lived in Eureka, NV with his family in 1874...his third
child/second daughter, Kate was born and baptized there. I have a record of this from St.
Brendan's church.
He and Mary Harrington married in 1870 in Grass Valley, CA and had their first child,
Mary, there.
I am trying to fill in the time gaps...1871-73...and then 1875-1877.
Their son Daniel Joseph was born in 1873, but I don't know where...somewhere in
California...enroute to Eureka, NV.
By 1877 they lived in San Bernardino, CA...where 2 more sons were born, Dennis and John.
Story goes that they moved from Eureka, NV to San Bernardino because Dennis was sick with
miners' lung...although the family story usually said "for his health".
Dennis died in 1878 in San Bernardino before the birth of his youngest son John in
October.
I would like to find an obituary or something that could tell more of his life in Eureka,
NV as a miner...and then where in San Bernardino they would have lived...and where he
might be buried. I have had no success finding records of my ggrandfather Dennis in San
Bernardino, CA so far, except for a baptism record for his son John.
Perhaps there would be a record of miners names, folks who were employed in Eureka from
1874-77, or city directory?
Any ideas of where to look are appreciated!
