Wondered why I couldn't find him on the 1880 census. He was, of course, I.N. (Isaac
N Farwell rather than JN Farewall.) I have confirmed he was son of Isaac Farwell from an
1883 newspaper article mentioning the visit of his father to Esmeralda Co from Ca and on
the way to Wisconsin in 1883. The father died in Arena Wisconsin the next year.
I.N. Farwell's sister, Wealthy Paul Farwell (named after his mother's, Mahala
daniels Farwell, sister Weathly Daniels Paull) married William Edward Shimmin who was a
part owner of the Aurora Mine.
The Shimmins and IN's father lived in California...IN's mother having died in 1874
in Arena NE. The Shimmins lost two children at a young age in Arena. They are buried
in the Arena Cem with IN's parents and a couple of sisters, and Mahala Daniels brother
Nelson Daniels.
I found marriage for Mary E Farwell. I don't know if it's the daughter Millie or
the widow mary Emma King Farwell. I'll have to check that date.
My ancestor was Mahala Daniels Farwell's youngest brother John Daniels Jr. The
Farwells were New Hampshire but had moved to the Ridge Road in New York where Isaac
Farwell witnessed the kidnapping of the famous anti-Mason, Cpt Morgan. Isaac testified
in court in Ohio in 1833. I believe IN was born in those year in Ohio rather than
NYs....his brother Luke A Farwell was born in NY in 1826, but a sister Ruth Farwell was
born in Ohio in 1834. They moved to Illinois in 1837. John Daniels is buried in the same
cem (Howard Union Winnebago co Il) as Isaac Farwell's parents, Isaac Farwell and
Prudence Allen. Mahala and John Daniels mother, Phebe Miller Daniels, is also buried at
Howard Union.
