Here is the brief article I mentioned identifying Isaac N Farwell's father from the
Reno Gazette:
"Hon. Isaac Farwell, father of I.N. Farwell, county clerk of Esmeralda, came up last
night from a visit to Aurora, and left for the East this morning. Mr. Farwell is a
California pioneer, having been a resident of Fresno and Mariposa counties since 1850,and
is 80 years old, but can still get around with but little assistance from young
folks." Reno Evening Gazette 20 Dec 1882
Note: "The East" was actually Arena Iowa Co Wisconsin where he died the next
year. Isaac's daughter, Wealthy had just died in California.
Nov. 9, 1883-- Arena Dept.-Obituary-
Isaac Farwell of this town died Wednesday morning at 7 o'clock, after a lingering
illness of two months duration. Mr. Farwell was among the very earliest settlers in
Wisconsin, as well as Arena. He was about 80 years of age. He will be buried with Masonic
honors--we will give a biographical sketch of his life in another issue.
The Arena Star-Nov. 15, 1883-The late Isaac Farwell had a Masonic funeral at his request.
Same Issue-Funeral Service- Funeral sermon for the late Isaac Farwell will be preached at
the A. C. church Arena,
Nov. 25 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. All are invited. B. N. Meigs
Isaac father was also son of Isaac Farwell b 1863 Walpole NH. He was born 14 May 1904
Charlestown Sullivan Co NH where his mother, Prudence Allen was also born.

Isaac Farwell was the 10th of 14 children born to Isaac Farwell (William Farwell and
Bethiah Eldredge) and Prudence Allen (Benjamin Allen). Short after his birth the family
removed to Clarkson Genesee (now Monroe) Co NY. He married Mahala Daniels c 1824 had had
Wealthy Paul and Luke A Farwell in NY before the extended families moved to Ohio where
Ruth Paul Farwell (m Sam Steele..see Barbaboo Sauk Co Wi) and Isaac N (see Esmeralda NV)
were born. The families moved to about 4 miles from Ridott Stephenson Co Il in 1836 and
Francis Marie Farwell was born there 2 Feb 1837.
Daughter Wealthy had married William Shimmin and the Shimmins lived in Arena until
sometime after 1860. They lost two children in Arena (Arena Cem) before they moved to
Esmeralda Co NV where William made and lost several fortunes in the gold mining business.
In 1880, Isaac was living with daughter Wealthy in Fresno CA. After she died c 1882 he
returned to Area where he died in 1883.
Note: I.N. Farwell's sisters, Ruth Paul and Wealthy Paul Farwell were named after his
mother's sisters, Ruth and Wealthy Daniels who married brothers Zebadee and David
Paull. They settled in Ontario Co NY.
Here is a bit of information about I.N. Farwell's grandmother Prudence Allen (d 1847
bur Howard Union Winnebago co IL)

Edward Allen, the eldest know ancestor of the Allen family of Charles-town, NH is said to
have been a soldier under Cromwell, and to have come to this country upon the restoration.
He was of Ipswich in l670, and one of the committee for settling Suffield, Ct. for which
service he received from the town in l678 a grant of 60 acres of land.Suffield was settled
by a colony from MA under whose jurisdiction it remained until l752. Probably Allen was
one of the lst settlers. At his death on Nov. 22, l696, he held an estate valued at 256
pounds.Edward Allen married Sarah Kimball. She d. June l2, l696. Eleven children were the
issue of this marriage. The youngest was Caleb Allen b. Mar 3l, l685 was a weaver. He was
of Suffield from l7l7to l725, then of Enfield from l748 to l756 when he removed to
North-field he d. Sep 23, l76l. He m. l72l Hannah Eaton of Haverhill, MA who d. Juen 8,
l786 aged 88. There were seven children by this marriage, of whom, Benjamin Allen their 3d
child was !
b. in l724.The name Benjamin Allen was listed in the Fort No. 4 roll of Capt.Phineas
Stevens company Mar. to Oct 20, l748. Also under the same officer in l749 and l750. He was
a proprietor of Charlestown in Aug l753 and an elected town officer.Benjamin Allen m. Nov
