Margaret Mary Zugnoni
Margaret Mary Zugnoni died in Stollwood Convalescent Hospital, Woodland Wednesday, May 15,
2002, at age 86.
Born Feb. 21, 1916, in Goldfield, Nev. Mrs. Zugnoni was the daughter of the late John and
Margaret Lynch. She was a long-time resident of the Easy Bay who moved to Woodland two
years ago following a stroke. She was a graduate of Presentation High School of Berkeley,
class of 1933, and of the University of California at Berkeley College of Commerce (School
of Business Administration), class of 1937. She worked as a bookkeeper for firms in San
Francisco and the East Bay for 21 years before retiring in 1981. She was a catechism
teacher at Saint Ambrose Church, Berkeley and an officer of the Mother's Club at
School of the Madeleine, Berkeley. According to the family members, "She enjoyed
traveling in the U.S. and Europe with her husband, vacationing with family members in
Twain Harte and caring for and visiting with her grandchildren and her
great-grandchildren."
Mrs. Zugnoni is survived by her husband of 59 years, Emil Zugnoni; daughter, Mary McCurdy
and husband Gary of Woodland; son, John Zugnoni and wife Jeanette of Alameda;
grandchildren, Paul Zugnoni and wife Sophie, David Zugnoni, Emily Zugnoni, Gina Preciado,
Daniel McCurdy and wife Yujung and Patricia Moore and husband Jerry; and
great-grandchildren, Justin McCurdy and Jessica Moore.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty (as a child); and brother, John in 1968.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, May 19, at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499
Piedmont Ave. in Oakland, telephone number (510) 654-0123). A vigil will be held at 7
p.m.
A funeral mass is scheduled to be said at noon Monday, May 20, at St. Ambrose Church, 1145
Gilman St. in Berkeley.
