Per "Nevada Place Names, a Geographical Dictionary" by Helen S. Carlson, 1974:
"Lee. The town, situated between Jiggs and Lamoille in Elko County, was settled in
1863 and later named by J. L. Martin for LEE CREEK, the east tributary of the South Fork
Humboldt River on which it is located (NK 11-12; OPN, p.25). Martin, a native of Maine,
is also credited with having named the creek in 1869 for General Robert E. Lee (EP, p.51).
A post office so named was established February 14, 1882 (FTM, p.16)."
In the key to sources, "FTM -Frickstad"; "OPN=Origin"; "NK=not
defined"; "EP=Patterson";
"Frickstad, Walter N. and Thrall, Edward W., with the collaboration of Ernest G.
Meyers, "A Century of Nevada Post Offices 1852-1957, Oakland, Calif.; Philatelic
Research Society, 1958."

of Elko County Place Names," Elko, Nev.: Warren L. and Mary J. Monroe, in cooperation
with "The Elko Independent, 1964".

Can anyone help me ?
I'm looking for the name and the biography of the founder of Lee township in Elko
County, Nevada.
I also looking for the names and the appointment date of the persons that served as
postmaster in this township.
If anyone have pictures of/from this township I would be glad to have a scan of them.
If anyone have covers or postcards from this place and from the time periode 1882 - 1982
I would like to buy them.
