They were married in Elko, by Rev. Greenfield of the Presbyterian church in the manse,

Batchelder came to Elko in 1909. He was born in Texas, resided in New England and came
here from Kansas. It was the following year that he married Edith Landon. A native of Elko
County. She was born in Mound Valley. Batchelder was employed as foreman of the city
street department in 1926. He kept that position until 1963 when he retired.
They have a daughter Edith Strange of Reno and a son Alvin, of Ogden Then also have 13
grandchildren and 17
great grandchildren.
Mrs. Batchelder and her sister Belle Herdert of Salem, IL., are the only survivors of
their family. Mrs. Herdert
was the only person attending the wedding 63 years ago. Mrs. Batchelder is widely known in
this area as a poet
