Discovering Ancestral Gold at Family History Day at the California
State Archives
We are pleased to announce that Lisa B. Lee will be the keynote
speaker at Family History Day. Ms. Lee is a professional genealogist
and lecturer, and the owner of
GotGenealogy.com. Her passion for
genealogy will shine through as she presents “Genealogy Basics, The
Constant Companion of Family Historians”. Ms. Lee will also teach the
class “Finding your Black Ancestors, an Introduction”. The keynote
address is a new feature at family History Day and presents a great
opportunity to welcome attendees to the day’s program.
ABOUT FAMILY HISTORY DAY
On Saturday, October 13, 2012 the California State Archives will open
its doors to the 14th annual Family History Day, a free day-long event
open to the public. Come learn how to start or revive your family
tree. Choose from nearly 24 basic genealogy classes on such topics as
the census, vital records, cemeteries, maps, ethnic and international
research, archives and libraries, and the internet.
Other highlights of the day include insider tours of the State
Archives and the Preservation Lab. Visit with over 25 exhibitors
representing genealogical, historical and lineage societies, research
libraries and archives eager to conduct live internet searches for
attendees. Browse the extensive collections in the Root Cellar
Genealogical Society Library. Experience the feel of your ancestor’s
