I am doing gen. work for a Danish Lady in Denmark (Bodil Rasmussen), while she works on my
wife's Danish Line (Gundestrups). I have been particularly interested in the
following Olesen family, who are connected to Bodil, some who married in the states after
emigrating from Denmark. Some of these children took their mother's line, the Norgaard
name for their surname, they didn't think well of their father. Maybe, three sisters
married spouses in Douglas Co., Nevada.
1. Marie Petra Olesen b. 10 Mar 1852 Torslev, Denmark
2. Ane Margrete Olesen (Norgard) b. 21 Oct 1854 Torslev, Denmark m. Morris Harris of
Douglas Co. Nevada. He was b. abt 1825 in Missouri. She died abt 1894 in Douglas Co.
Supposedly later, her sister married Morris before his death in 1896, a short marriage.
She then married Friedrich Wilhelm Behrmann. They are buried in the Lone Mountain
Cemetery, Carson City, NV. In the 1900 US Fed. Census, this Anne is with Fritz W.
Behrman. The children are given as sister's daughters and sister's sons. The
first Anne is Ane Margrete Olesen (Norgard). She appears with Morris Harris with children
in the 1880 US Fed. Census. This second Anne puzzles me. It look like the first
Anne's sister-in-law born about the same year as the second Anne. Maybe she is this
sister with Fritz Behrman in the 1900 Census. I have run out of Annes.
3. Christen Olesen/Norgard (Called big Chris) b. 1857 in Denmark, settled near Hayfork,
Trinity Co. California on a ranch. He married Anine Kristine Abine Frank. Anine's
mother is the 2nd grandmother of the lady I work with in genealogy in Denmark. I have
compiled much material on this line with a little of his brother's (Little Chris)
genealogy.
4. Peder Olesen b. 1859 married Ane Johanne Andersen. This birth date fits closely the
second Anne that married Morris Harris, mentioned in no. 3 above.
5. Poul C. Olesen b. 1860 at Jetsmark, Denmark. (Not concerned about this one.)
6. Pouline Olesen (Lena), b. 1863 near Jetsmark, Denmark, married John Arendt Jensen of
Gardnerville, Douglas Co., Nevada. John Arendt Jensen's sister, Kirtine Jensen married
Jens Christensen. Their grandson, Ivan, is 80 years old now. Ivan's father is Hans
Peter Jensen Christensen, who lived in Douglas county, buried at Lone Mountain Cemetery,
Carson City, NV. Hans Peter is the son of Jens and Kirtine Christensen.
7. Christian F. Olesen/Norgaar (called little Chris) b. 1867 in Kollerup, Denmark. He
married another Franck girl, Caecilie Marie Frank. They settled in Ukiah, Mendocino,
Cal.
Beside wanting to know who the second Anne is above, I would like to know who Marie Petrea
Olesen (child no. 1 above) married. She must of been around her two sisters in Douglas
county. Marie emigrated (7/25/1878) destination Nevada. Could she be the second wife
(b. Apr 1852) of Lawrence Christiansen? There is only one month difference in their birth
months. They had the following children together: Annie(1884), Hannah(1886),
Christ(1887), Mary(1890), Louisa(1892). During Lawrence's first marriage he may of
had Meta(1876) and John(1882). Any help in my finding who Marie Petra Olesen married
would be greatly appreciated together with who that second Anne is.
