Thanks for the reply and the link to the Clark Co. gov't site.
I had gotten the basic information presented there. What I'd really like to find are
newspaper announcements because they usually give more information that the bare-bones
statistical facts.
Out here our libraries will subscribe to ProQuest and we can access our major local
newspaper from 1983 forward to the present on line at ProQuest from home by using our
library card bar code at the ProQuest site. For archived copies of the newspaper before
1983 though, we still have to travel to the main library and look-up ourselves on the
microfilm or contatct the Reference Services department at the main library & supply
them with, at minimum, month and year & subject/surname of whatever we are looking
for. They charge a small, flat fee for the service but with gas and parking costs,
it's often less than the cost of going inperson to do the look-ups.
I had been hoping that someone in the Las Vegas area had access like we do to archived
editions of whatever the major Las Vegas newspaper was/is through ProQuest, would run a
search of the surname and post a cut and paste here of what had been published on the
surname...hopefully announcements of the sort I was seeking.
I noticed that you've posted quite a few Las Vegas obits presumably from the local
newspaper.
Would the newspaper you're getting the obits from be the major paper for the area?
What's the name of the major newspaper out there that would be likely to have
published the announcements of the sort I am looking for? Do you know if the local
library has the major Las Vegas newspaper archived on microfilm and if they do searches
and copies from the archived issues? And contact information for the library?
Thanks again for taking the time to reply with the Clark Co. link.
