Hi,
I need help.
My Grandmother Nellie deSoto lived in Los Vegas in the 60's. While there her husband
Al deSoto had several heart attacks in one evening. After he settled down at the hospital
she went home to the motel they were managers of. She went to bed... but before she fell
asleep she felt her cheek being kissed. It frightened her so she called the hospital to
see if her husband had died. He had not. The next morning she read in the newspaper her
son who she had not seen for over 6 years had died there, the notice was in the paper.
This is all by word of mouth... I would like to try to record his death date and place of
burrial. My Grandmother died in 1981, before I became interested in genealogy so there is
no one to ask about this.
It would seem to me that if she saw the announcement in the paper there would be a record
of it somewhere. Her son George Torrence Bonstein (from her first marriage) gave up on
life and had become a railroad bum. (again this is family rumor) He had stopped all
contact with family. I have tried the SS death index he is not listed.
Now the help... How would you go about finding him? Would Police reports go back that far?
Who would I contact in Los Vegas?
Thank you for reading this and any help you might offer..
Except of course a nut doctor LOL for believing any of it...but I do my Grandmother would
not have told my family this if it had not happened.
