Obituary: The Salt Lake Tribune, Saturday, 8 Mar 2003:
Neca Jones Watts
3/25/14 ~ 3/6/03
KANOSH, UTAH - Our sweet, loving, angel mother, Neca Jones Watts, 88, returned to her
Heavenly Father and into the arms of her beloved husband on March 6, 2003 in Salt Lake
City, Utah. The twinkle in her eye and her sense of humor will be missed by her family and
those who knew her.
Born March 25, 1914 in Overton, Clark Co., Nevada to Albert Larsen and Era Lehi Conger
Jones. She lived and attended school in Overton until going away to college at the
University of Nevada in Reno. After graduating in education she taught school in Overton,
Nevada where she met her eternal companion and life-long sweetheart, Taft Charles Watts.
They were married June 6, 1939 in the St. George Temple.
Neca taught school for 30 years in Kanosh and Fillmore, UT and then in Mesquite and Las
Vegas, NV. Countless children not only learned spelling and arithmetic but also the
lessons of life from her gentle guidance. Neca was a faithful member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for her entire life. Her faith never wavered as she
endured to the end of her earthly life. She held many church callings and was always
willing and anxious to serve where ever she was asked. A highlight of her life was to be
called on a mission to the Atlanta LDS Temple from June 1985 to December 1986. This
mission was one of her greatest joys. She cherished her association with the other
missionaries and the temple patrons. She could often be found playing the organ in the
chapel of the temple. As a talented musician she played the organ and piano for countless
church meetings, choirs, funerals and other events. Her life and home were always filled
with sweet melodies and loving notes. !
Even at her passing she had a song in her heart.
Neca is survived by her four children: Regina (Gail) Hunter of Bonita, CA; Julia (Charles)
Buscher of Brighton, CO; Cherri (David) Joy of West Jordan, UT; and Dr. Bart Taft Watts of
Salt Lake City, UT; two sisters: Teresa Denning of Boulder City, NV; and Molly Diehl of
Las Vegas, NV; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 10, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kanosh LDS Ward
chapel. Friends may call at the chapel Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial
will be at the Kanosh City Cemetery.
Special thanks to the loving staff at Garden Terrace Alzheimer's Center and Hospice
for Utah.

(Neca is also predeceased by her two brothers: Sheriff Glenn Jones of Las Vegas, Nevada,
and Bill Jones of Overton, Nevada).
