Hi Peggy
I found a marriage record for Peggy. She is the only Peggy Irene Smith listed on the
marriage register and the same goes for the husband.
I have found the following.
Peggy Irene Smith
married
James Kenneth Thornton (T h o r n t o n)
December 19, 1964
Clark County, Las Vegas, NV
Certificate #: -000194
(I have never seen a # formated this way, when inq. about the cert. make sure the - is
used also) At first I was searching for Thorton. That's no good I found out :-)
I searched the other county records..ie probate, divorce, other marriages for both,
property records, court records, newspaper articles, obituaries..etc.
My conclusion is they are no longer in Clark County. It would be very unusual for them to
be here and not have some kind of property records with the clerks office. Especially
considering their ages now and how people back in 1964 that lived here were more
responsible. If you lived here for any length of time, a house or property would have been
purchased. In 1964 it was very easy to buy houses here.
I have access to other online records also and I will check there too. I just wanted you
to know that a new name to search for her is now available. And as far as Clark Co. is
concerned, they both are still alive.
If you want the marriage records you will have to contact 1 the addresses below if not all
of them to obtain it. If your real lucky you may be able to get the marriage application.
A gold mine for information.
Because of the time frame and the fact that they are probably still alive. I suggest that
if you contact the addresses below, don't tell them you are searching for the BIRTH
mother. Tell them you just want a copy of YOUR mothers marriage records. And sign all
forms or requests with SMITH. They may not give it to you due to the adoption and privacy
laws if you tell the it is for an adoptee.
I have learned there is more than one way to catch a fish!!! :-)
I never let buraucracy stand in my way. If they ask if they are alive say no. You will not
be lieing because there is a Peggy & James Thornton that died, however, the middle
names are different and they were each married to different people.
Have you tried searching for her family?

It also may be worth paying them about $20 to search for any death records, just in case.
Well I will be touch if I find anything else out.
Tell your adoptee I wish him Good Luck and Happiness.
