Jahanbakhsh 'John' Abdi
Jahanbakhsh "John" Abdi died suddenly on Aug. 4, 2002, at his home in Las
Vegas, Nev., from complications of heart disease. He was 63.
He was born in Tehran, Iran, on June 7, 1939. He came to the United States
in 1959
to study engineering at the UC Davis. He became a restaurateur in
the 1970s, opening French restaurants in Sausalito, Beverly Hills and Walnut
Creek. For the past 15 years, he was a a pool contractor in Las Vegas and
Los Angeles.
He enjoyed working, cooking, politics and horse races, and he was an avid
sports
enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gen. Jahanjir Abdi; mother,
Afsarelmolook
Abdi, both of Las Vegas; and grandson, Daniel Steven
Abdi-Moreno of Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Joanne Abdi of Las Vegas; his sons,
Charles
Abdi and his wife Diane of San Diego and John Darian Abdi of San
Rafael; his daughters, Sue Abdi Lincoln and her husband Jim of Woodland, Mia
Michelle Robertson and her husband Tony of Petaluma, and Danielle Cheri Abdi
of San Rafael; stepson, Tarik Joseph Madanat; and stepdaughter, Nada Noah
Madanat.
He is also survived by two granddaughters, Charlize Capri Abdi of San
Diego and
Mckenna Danielle Lincoln of Woodland, and step-granddaughter,
Joanna Elizabeth Collins of Las Vegas; brother, Jahanshah Abdi and his wife
Pari of Las Vegas; sister, Ozzi Abdi-Mohebbi and her husband Jamshid Mohebbi
of Las Vegas; brother-in-law and best friend, Abbas Amidi of Iran; nephew,
Paveh Amidi of Las Vegas; and niece, Pooneh Amidi Melton of Las Vegas.
He is further survived by many cousins and friends.
Services will be held next week in Las Vegas.
