All newpaper archives are located int the main library here at 1401 E.
Flaming Rd in Las Vegas.
you may however, call the Review Journal and ask them if that date would
be available. Since the RJ owns the LV Sun, they should know who to get
ahold of. The archives at the RJ are NOT open to the public so you would
have to go through the library.

I just took over the Clark County site and will help if I can. There are
two areas of concern. One is the downtown location for the Piutes on land
donated by Helen Canon. The second is the Moapa indian Reservation. All
I have for the Reservation are telephone listings. The Moapa Tribal Office
is 702 865-2787.
There used to be an office downtown and they would offer to help you trace
your ancestry but they don't respond very well.
Sorry i couldn't help more.

Joe, I just took over Clark County website. After doing genealogy here
for over thirty years, I would recommend the LDS library located at 9th
and Lewis in downtown Las Vegas. it has great access.
For newpaper archives, I would recommend the Las Vegas Clark County Library
located at Flamingo Rd and Maryland Parkway. They have newspaper Archives
for the Review Journal and Las Vegas Sun.
Across the street on Maryland Parkway is UNLV. They have a wonderful reference
library.
Good Luck and happy hunting!

Surname: Judkins
-------------------------
I am seeking information on where an early period Clark County birth certificate
might be located. My Grandfather was born 4 Mar 1867 in Las Vegas. I understand
that this part of Nevada was Arizona Territory until Jan 1867. My Grandfather
was born as either Philip Henry Judkins or Henry Philip Judkins. His father
was Philip Judkins and it is believed he may have been a miner, blacksmith,
and farmer. Later in life my Grandfather changed his name to Charles Henry
Judkins but this was I believe years after leaving the Las Vegas area.
Grandfather spoke several local Indian dialects, was a cowboy, bronc buster
and possibly a farmer. I am thinking that in his early years he and his
family may have had some connection with Octavius Decatur Gass and the
Old Mormon Fort. I have also posted messages under Washoe County where
the Judkins later appeared. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Hello NVCLARK listers,
I'm looking from some help in finding a marriage license for my oldest
brother. He was married in November 1983 (I believe this is correct, not
100% sure) The marriage was pretty short and pretty bad and my brother tries
hard to forget all about it. One thing he can't forget is the 14 year old
son he has as a result of this marriage. It's for my nephew that I am trying
to get some information on the mother he doesn't remember.
Anyone have or know of a way to search for marriage records? I 'd like to
have a for sure date before I contact the Clerks office in Las Vegas to
request a copy of a license. (The Clark Co. website has a searchable site
for records, but it's for 1984 and later, darn!! ;) If anyone can help or
give some advice I'd appreciate it!
I'm looking for the Marriage of:
Charles O. Harney and Sally Frances Johnson about Nov 1983 in Las Vegas,
Clark Co., NV

Las Vegas Sun Sept. 3, 2000. Debra Faria,Sheila Shearer, Tilford Landis,
Jr., and Benjamin Segmiller were disenrolled from the Paiute tribe. New
rules of the tribe say they don't have the required 1/4 Paiute heritage.
Faria says her grandfather Manuel LOPEZ is listed on a Las Vegas Paiute
census for 1940. Shearer's grandmother was Juanita WEED WILSON LEE. Greg
Tuttle at tuttle(a)lasvegassun.com covers federal agencies. Does someone
know or have information on the Las Vegas Paiute ancestry? They have to
go before Paiute tribe court.
