Prominent Fallon Rancher Killed by Bull.
Fallon, Nv. Aug. 25 (special)
George W. Lattin, one of the most prominent ranchers of the Fallon district, was killed at
his ranch home here Tuesday night by a bull. He was in the corral with the cattle when the
bull attacked him and struck him on the chest. He died almost instantly.
A neighbor witnessed the tragedy and dragged Lattin from the corral and then summoned
is wife, who in turn called a physician, but the man died before the physician arrived.
Mr. Lattin had been a resident of Fallon since 1909, coming here from South Dakota
and had been engaged in ranching. He was a graduate of Northwestern University law
school, a classmade of William Jennings Bryan, and practiced law for twenty seven years in
South Dakota before coming to Fallon. He served as county judge in South Dakota for a
number of years and was a captain in company E, first South Dakota volunteers in the
Spanish American war.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Latin took an active part in local social and political affairs and
are widely known throughout the county. Mrs. Lattin has been active in the affairs of W C
T U, and served as state president for a number of terms. On July 25 of this year the
couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Besides his widow, Mr. Lattin leaves four sons, Ralph, Mark and Herbert of Fallon, and
William Lattin, principal of a high school in Cleveland, O., and three daughters, Mrs.
Mary Hollister of South Dakota, Mrs. Louis May of Rock Valley, Ia. and Mrs. Francis

My note: her obit said moved to fallon in 1869. That conflicts with his obit of being in
South Dakota. Also his obit says Francis Harrison of Oakland and hers spelled it
Frances.
To view Nevada census records for them go to:
www.nevadaculture.org and click on the census icon on the right hand side of the
screen. Key in the name Lattin and you will see the ones in Nevada with their census
information.
There is so much information to be had in obits I hope it gives you some new information
Regards, Arline in Nevada
