Funeral services for Ester Lily Eva Ganowsky, 85, of Whittier, Calif., will be held
Saturday, 2 p.m., at the C Hill Mormon Church in Carson City with visitation an hour prior
to the services. Interment will follow at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.
Visitation is also tonight, 6-8 o'clock at Waltons Chapel of the Valley in Carson
City.
She died Feb. 9, 1999 at her residence.
Born Oct. 13, 1913 in Salem, Idaho to Wilhelm and Agnes Ulke Ganowsky, her early
education was in Logan, Utah, and she later graduated from Huntington Park High School in
Huntington Park, Calif., in 1932 and Frank Wiggins Vocational School in Los Angles. She
lived in Bell, Calif., many years before moving to Carson City in 1970 and then to
Whittier. She married Raymond Lawrence Amdal Oct. 28, 1937 in Glendale, Calif.
She had been employed at Woolworths and Sears and was also a homemaker. She was active in
the Church of Jesus Cchrist of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed camping, gardening, sewing,
cooking and canning.
Mrs Ganowsky was preceded in death by husband, Raymond Amdal; son, Karl Amdal; brothers,
William Ganowsky, Nephi Ganowsky, and Herbert Ganowsky; and sisters, Margaretta Marshell,
Ruth Contesotto and Ellsa Ganowsky.
Survivors include sons, William Amdal of Fallon and Alan Amdal of Las Vegas; daughters,
Carol Davis of Carson City and Alice Leavitt of Laguna Hulls, Calif.; 22 grandchildren;
and 18 great-grandchildren.
