I am not related but found this newspaper item:
Reno Evening Gazette (Reno, Nevada) 1936, October 19 page 14
He visits Reno for first Time In Over 50 Years.
On his first visit to Reno since 1882, Alonzo Dick is spending a few days here, the
guest of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Hill.
Mr. Dick was here forty-four years ago on his way from Indiana to California. At
that time, he declared, Reno was "just a handful of shacks-it wasn't even worth
getting off the train to look at.". He continued on to California where he was a
carpenter and contractor for many years. He is now retired and makes his home in Rogue
River, Oregon.
Maybe this is your Alonza. Some of the info matches.
Regards, Arline in Reno.
