Article Description: John G. Atchinson Dies At Home In Reno

John G. ATCHINSON, former resident of Hawthorne, passed away at his home in Reno, a few
days ago, after an illness of several weeks, at the age og sixty-nine years. He is
survived by his wife, who was at his bedside when the end came. Mr ATCHINSON was a member
of Goldfield Lodge of Elks and Nevada Council of The Knights of Columbus.
Mr. ATCHINSON was born in California, and after graduating from Santa Clara College came
to Nevada to make his home. He was auditor and recorder of Esmeralda county for a number
of years, aand when the county was devided, and Mineral was created, was appointed clerk
and treasurer of Mineral county with headquarters at Hawthorne, the county seat.
Later still he was named deputy recorder of Esmeralda county with headquarters at
Goldfield. After quitting public office he was engaged in business in Aurora and Lovelock.
Two years ago he removed to Reno to reside.
Mr. ATCHINSON was one of the men selected to circulate the referendum petition but was
overtaken by illness as he was preparing to start his campaign, which resulted in his
death.
Mr. ATCHINSON was a man of high mental attaonment, his charactor was one of the highest
integrity and moral standing. He has a host of friends, especially among the old time
citizens of Esmeralda and Mineral county.
