Article Description: Burns Prove Fatal To Child Of Four On Schurz Ranch
Article Text:
Schurz, Wednesday, 24 Mar (Special) Clara WILLIAMS, 4 years old daughter of Murphy WILLIAMS, Indian rancher, was so severly burned on Monday (22 Mar) that she died at 5:00 that evening.
The child strayed away from home to the adjoining ranch across the road, where a rancher had been burning weeds. It is believed she walked in the embers and her dress caught on fire.
Screams from the child as she ran from the place attracted Howard SIDES, a rancher plowing in a field close by and he ran to her assistance and beat out the flames with his hands, but she was so badly burned the result was fatal.
