Myra Waters HOWARD, 60, native of Hawthorne, NV, died Monday at her Reno residence after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. HOWARD, the daughter of the late Neva FERRETTI of Hawthorne, was born 8 Dec 1917.
She was a graduate of Mineral County High School and attended business college in Sacramento.
She married Herman R. HOWARD of Hawthorne who worked for his brother in law, the late Ferrell SEEVERS. The HOWARD'S moved to Fernley, NV and later to Lake Tahoe where they operated a Chevron Station for 17 years. Following HOWARD'S retirement they moved to Reno.
Surviving are her husband; daughter Myrna KENDELL; sister Harriet BREBNER and three grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday in the funeral home with burial in Mountain View Cemetery, Reno.

A two car collision on U.S. 95, 19 miles North of Hawthorne, killed Larry D. PATTON, 40, of Fallon on Sunday 26 Nov.
The driver of the other automobile which PATTON veered into was Van L. BURROUGHS, 43, of San Clemente, CA. BURROUGHS was not seriously hurt. His passengers, Corrine BURROUGHS, 38 and Lee Ann GAUDRY, 15 also of San Clemente were taken to Mount Grant hospital here with multiple injuries.
PATTON was born 21 Apr 1938 in Bolivar,MO and had moved to Fallon in 1971.
He retired from the U.S. Navy in September 1978 after 21 years of service. He was employed as a security guard at HWAAP at the time of his death.
Survivors include his widow Barbara of Fallon; children David, Daniel and Jennifer, all of Fresno, CA, stepsons Joseph and Louis JACKSON of Fallon; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis PATTON and brother Robert all of Bolivar, MO.
PATTON was the sixth fatality on Nevada highways during the Thanksgiving period.

Bernie M. WHITE, 54, died Sunday in Washoe Medical Center, Reno.
He was born 8 May 1924 in Clarinda, IA and lived there until moving to Hawthorne in 1951.
He was employed at the Naval Ammunition Depot as a management analyst until his retiremant in May 1974. While at NAD he served as Chairman of the Employees Services Board. A position he held until his retirement. The board managed recreational services for civilian employees at the depot.
He was a liftime member of the U.S. Navy League and was a past president of the organization. He was also a member of the B.P.O.E. and American Legion.
WHITE was Colonel-in-charge of "F" Troop, a fraternal group, which he had fathered.
He is survived by his widow, LaVonne of Hawthorne; daughter, Nancy NEEF of Elko, NV; brother Claire WHITE of Bedford; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Hawthorne Civic Center Wednesday (29 Nov), burial followed in the Hawthorne Cemetery.

Harvey A. BUNTING, 82, died in a Reno hospital Wednesday, 8 Nov. Mr. BUNTING was born 20 Jul 1896 in Clinton, IA.
He opened a welding and machine shop here in 1948 upon his arrivial from Los Angeles. He went to work for the Naval Ammunition Depot in 1948, retiring in 1968.
He is survived by his daughter Beverly BECK of Hawthorne, Shirley BUNTING of Reno and a son Harvey BUNTING of LaHavre, CA.
Graveside services were held Sunday (16 Nov) at the Hawthorne Cemetery. Arrangements were through Hawthorne Funeral Home.

A twenty year old former resident of Hawthorne, Fred COLLIER, was killed in an auto crash in Winnemucca, NV last week. COLLIER came to Hawthorne in 1974 from Lake Tahoe and later took a job as systems manager for Raley's Supermarket in Winnemucca.
He is survived by his wife Mary SPRIGGS, daughter Melissa; parents Dan and Beatrice COLLIER and brother Dan COLLIER II, all of Hawthorne; sister Delma Lee STUPARICH of Lake Tahoe and two grandmother's Ruth SCOTT of Hawthorne and Fern McNEIL of Gallatin, MO.
Funeral Services were held last Saturday in Hawthorne followed by interment in Hawthorne Cemetery.

Article Description: Virgil Kinney Drowns In Lake Mead
Article Text:
Virgil Wesley KINNEY,64, former resident of Hawthorne was found floating in Lake Mead by the National Park Service on Monday afternoon at
2:45 p.m.
KINNEY had gone fishing in a 14' outboard and when he did not return that night his wife called the park service and a search was instituted. Another fisherman reported hearing a boat go aground off Stewart's Point and his craft was found there empty. The search continued but proved fruitless until the body surfaced Monday. Death is believed to have been caused by drowning.
Mr. KINNEY was born 30 Jan 1914 and was retired from the base here in Hawthorne.
KINNEY went to work in civil service in Brenerton, WA in 1940 and transfered to the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hawthorne in 1945, retiring in 1969.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; son, Frederick Lewis KINNEY of Yreka; daughters, Leona PICOVEICH of Reno and Norma TOMLINSON of Hawthorne; four granddaughters and one grandson; sister Cleo CROSSWHITE of Harrisonville, MO and brother, Orville KINNEY of Belfair, WA.
He was the past Grand Exalted Ruler of the Elks and the local lodge will officiate at the service, with Father GARRISON of the Episcopal Church officiating. Services will be held at the Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday (20 Oct) with burial in the Hawthorne Cemetery to follow.
