While researching my Ronan ancestors, I came upon an excellent site that has
very detailed maps from 1870-1890 timeframe for Antigonish County. This map
shows topographical features, locations of towns and villages, names of
residents next to each house, and many other interesting features i.e.
cemeteries, churches etc.
It says that in 1864, Ambrose F. Church was commissioned by the Nova Scotia
legislature to create a series of maps, one for each of Nova Scotia's 18
My question is does a map like this exist for Cape Breton Cty. In particular,
the Glace Bay and Bridgeport areas? I was able to find the actual house of
the person I was looking for on this map and would love to be able to do the
same for my Cadegan ancestors from Bridgeport/Glace Bay.
