The following was found in the Tewksbury Almshouse Inmate Case
Histories, Vol. 43, 3/1885 to 11/1885, Tewksbury, MA, case 76505:
Brown, Henry, came there from Boston Oct. 29, 1885. Debility. 71, born
in Nova Scotia, widower, painter. This man does not know anything,
can't remember anything. Says he has been drifting from Maine, New
Hampshire and Mass. since the war. Was in the 8th Maine. Served 2 1/2
years. Ancestors never here. No friends. Was sent to Portland.
Discharged Nov. 17, 1885.
