Jean (Burns) MacDonald
Born In: New Waterford
Born: October 22nd, 1915
Passed on: July 17th, 2013
Jean, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away
peacefully at the QE II Hospital on Wednesday, July 17, 2013.
Jean was the daughter of Elizabeth and Joseph Burns of New Waterford.
She was employed at McCurdy's and Crowell's for a number of years.
She loved playing cards with her family and friends and enjoyed
bowling and bingo.
She is survived by daughters, Carol Hill, Lois (Gordon) Smith, both
of Sydney; sisters, Risa and Ada, both of the USA and Martha,
Ontario; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mom was predeceased by her beloved only son, Roger on July 14, 2013.
Roger had been her primary caregiver for the last number of years.
She was also predeceased by brothers, Clarence, Percy, Edward,
sisters, Ivy, Josephine and Irene, husbands, Matthew Hill, Harry
Fraser and George MacDonald.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July
24, 2013, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St.,
Sydney, from 1-2 p.m. with a service
to follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the
health-care providers, and a special thank you to Jan Coggan who was
with mom in her final days.

Duncan Allan MacKay

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing
of Duncan Allan MacKay Jr. at Cape Breton Regional Hospital on
Saturday, July 20, 2013.
He was the son of the late Duncan and Haroldine (Beaver) MacKay of Louisbourg.
Allan lived in Louisbourg most of his life until moving to his
"little piece of heaven" out on the Mira in 2005.
Allan is survived by his loving wife, Diane (O'Hara); daughters, Lori
MacKay Carroll (Paul), Dartmouth, Amy MacKay (Josh), Middle
Sackville, and the light of his life, his grandchildren -
granddaughter Julia, grandsons, Dawson (and his father, Charlie
Lahey), Matthew and Ajai; and special four-legged friend, Shelby;
sisters, Jean Wadden, Catalone, Beth (Brian) Kehoe, Catalone;
brothers, Harold (Michelle), Dartmouth, Grant (Jacqueline), Albert
Bridge, and sister-in-law, Ann MacKay, Dartmouth. Allan is also
survived by father-in-law, Claude (Ruth) O'Hara, sisters-in-law,
Wendy (Doug) MacPhee, Sydney, MaryLynn (Cecil) Louisbourg;
brothers-in-law, Claude (Judy) O'Hara, Windsor, N.S., and Shawn
(Elaine) O'Hara, Edmonton, Alta. Also surviving are goddaughters, Dr.
Amy Perioway, Corner Brook, N.L., Joanne Harris, Fort McMurray,
Alta., and godson, Trevor Wadden, Dartmouth along with many nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Allan began his working career at the Fortress of Louisbourg as a
stonemason/stonecutter before leaving to follow his father's
footsteps in the car sales business for many years. Before his
retirement in March 2013, he was self-employed first as
co-owner/manager of Jitter's n Jive's Pub and most recently as owner
of Weed Man Lawncare business. Allan was a member of First United
Church, Louisbourg. He was also a chartered member of the Louisbourg
and Area Lion's Club until its closing. Allan enjoyed sitting on the
deck in Mira and spending his Friday evenings "solving the world's
problems" with "the Boys" at the office in Louisbourg.
Allan was predeceased by his parents, infant daughter, Allena
Michelle, mother-in-law, Lillian O'Hara, brother-in-law, Roddie
Wadden and cousin/life-long friend, Millan Beaver.
Cremation has taken place. As per Allan's request an informal Irish
Wake will be held in his honour at his home at 39 Pleasant Walk,
Albert Bridge, beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013. Allan
hoped that all his family and friends would come to enjoy an evening
of shared memories and refreshments. A graveside service will be held
at Willow Grove Cemetery, Clarkes Road, Louisbourg, 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, July 24, 2013, with Rev. Emily Duggan officiating.
Following the service a reception will be held at Calvin Memorial
Hall, Upper Warren Street, Louisbourg, all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First United
Church, Louisbourg, Willow Grove Cemetery, Louisbourg, or the An Cala
Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or the
charity of one's choice.

It is with deepest sadness that we, the family of the late Steve Geza
Anda, announce his peaceful passing on July 18, 2013, surrounded by
his loving family.
Steve was the son of the late Karoly Zsofonyi and Julianna Anda of Hungary.
Steve is survived by his brother, Karoly Anda, Ontario; his two
daughters, Stepahnie Anda (Chris MacLeod), Alberta, Sharon Anda
(Gordon West); two sons, Steven Anda (Meghan Slattery), Scott Anda
(Jill Cameron), all from Glace Bay; grandchildren, James, Darius,
Julianne, Maria, Calvin, Savahana and Sophia; his former wife,
Louise, mother of his children. Also survived by his extended family.
Steve was predeceased by his grandson, Christian.
Cremation and burial will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens
at 10 a.m on Tuesday, July 23, 2013
David 'Shennie' Penny

We, the family, announce the passing of David Roy 'Shennie' Penny who
passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the Glace Bay Hospital,
Shennie worked in Ontario, enjoyed riding his bike and was and avid
Montreal Canadiens fan. He belonged to Epworth United Church.
Surviving are his companion and best friend, Anita Penny. Also
survived by daughters, Shauna, Sydney, Margaret Penny MacNeil,
British Colombia, Edna (Jeff) Calgary; sons, Dave (Leona), Calgary,
Alta., John (Veronica), Glace Bay; sisters, Mary, Glace Bay, Ethel,
Cambridge, Ont.; brothers, George (Ernestine), Wayne (Jan) both in
Halifax, Gilbert, Glace Bay; 21 grandchildren and one
Predeceased by parents, Thomas & Margaret; sisters, Phoebe, Reta,
Susie, Vivian; brother, Jerry.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Patten Funeral Home,
71 Union St., Glace Bay.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 2 p.m.
in funeral home chapel with Rev. Donald MacDonald officiating. Burial
in Greenwood Cemetery.
Donations can be made to the Lung Association or a charity of choice.
