These families are all interconnected, the common factor being the
Iain Ban Morrison and Catherine MacInnes in Aird, Benbecula had at least
nine children, but only four are of interest here:
Chirsty, bc.1778, the eldest daughter, married Donald MacMillan, brother of
Alexander. Donald and family left Balivanich in the 1840s and were in
Quebec before settling in Glenelg Township, Ontario.
Catherine Mhor, bc.1781, married Alexander, brother of Donald and father of
Angus of Grand Lake, CB and Michael of Sydney, CB. This was Catherine's only
Mary, bc.1790 married John Martin, left Uachdar in Benbecula in the 1840s
and settled in the Sydney, CB area. The Michael Martin who kept the diary
referred to by Lark Szick in her information to Carlee was a son of this
marriage. Mary died in Frenchvale, CB in 1863.
Catherine Bheag, bc.1798, married Donald MacDonald, left Aird, Benbecula in
the 1840s and settled in the Sydney Mines area.
They had at least eight children, all born in Aird:
Perhaps it might also be mentioned that Michael Morrison, elder brother to
Iain Ban, had a daughter Anne who married a Malcolm MacMillan in Balivanich.
Two of their sons left for CB: John, who died in Cow Bay; and Malcolm who
died in Catalone
Hope this helps.
