With heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of
our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend,
Mary E. Sheaves, 82, on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012,
at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Channel, Port aux Basques, Mary was the
daughter of the late Ernest and Melida (Kendall)
Mary was employed with the dietary staff at the
Northside Community Guest Home for a number years.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican
Church and a former member of LOBA and LTBA.
Mary loved listening to Newfoundland music on the
radio, she enjoyed hockey games at the North
Sydney Forum and was a big Toronto Maple Leafs
She is survived by her daughter, Heather Bennett,
with whom she resided; her five sons, Joe (Sis)
Sheaves, North Sydney, Richard (Pam) Sheaves,
Fort McMurray, Ernie Sheaves (Debbie), Baddeck,
Eric Sheaves (Donna Marie), North Sydney, and
David (Linda), Fort McMurray; sister, Tina
(Walter) Jesso; her 11 grandchildren, Pamela,
Lorne, Brian Paul, Samantha, Jessica, Penny,
Dustin, Amanda, Jennifer, Louis, Tyler; and also
eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Richard
(Sharon) Matthews, North Sydney; her aunt, Alice
Keeping, North Sydney; many nieces and nephews;
and close friend, Joan McGean.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Eric Sheaves
and brothers, Ivan (Sarah) Matthews and Gordon
There will be no visitation. A private graveside
service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, North
Sydney, with Rev. Gloria McClure officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of
W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian
Diabetes Association or the Northside Hospital
Foundation or charity of choice.

Born: January 14th, 1945
Passed in: Point-du-Chêne, Quebec, Canada
Passed on: October 25th, 2012
Edward Shaw, 67, of Point-du-Chêne passed away on
Oct. 25, 2012 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont
University Hospital Center.
Born Jan. 14, 1945 in Indian Brook, Cape Breton,
he was the son of the late Joanne Shaw of Indian
Prior to his retirement he was a lobster fisherman.
He is survived by an aunt, Nora Jessome; three
cousins, Ronnie Jessome, Nelson Jessome and Irene
In memory of Edward, a donation to the Canadian
Cancer Society would be appreciated.
By request there will be no visitation or
funeral. Cremation arrangements entrusted to the
professional care of Frenette Funeral Home, 396
Main St., Shediac (532-3297).
Eunice 'Louise' Carmichael
Born In: Taber, Alberta, Canada
Passed in: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: October 29th, 2012
Louise Carmichael, age 83 passed away on Monday,
Oct. 29, 2012 at the Maple Hill Manor, New
Born in Taber, Alta., she was the daughter of the
late John and Annie (Wilson) LeLoup.
Before moving to the manor, Louise was a resident
of David Street, River Ryan. She was a member of
Calvin United Church, New Waterford. Louise
enjoyed playing cards and doing paper toile; she
will be remembered as a loving and compassionate
wife and mother.
Louise is survived by her husband, Norman
Carmichael; two sons, Norman (Lauralee), Kenneth
(Mary Anne), both in Halifax; one brother,
Gordon, New Waterford; three grandchildren and
Louise was predeceased by a daughter in infancy;
two brothers, John and Wilson and a sister, Mary.
No visitation. Cremation has taken place under
the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral
Home, New Waterford. A funeral service,
officiated by Rev. Duncan Roach will be held on
Friday at 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church followed
by a reception in Calvin Hall.
As an expression of sympathy for Louise, memorial
donations in her memory may be made to a charity
of one's choice.
